Tubes,
Coiling, twisting, winding
Around me.
I feel nothing, wish nothing, hear nothing,
Yet see everything.

The room is sterile.
I miss the colourful wallpaper of our bedroom, sister.
I will be home soon,
Though no one has promised me.
I know.

There is hushed talking,
Always hushed talking.
No one will look me in the eyes
And tell what will happen.
But you do.

You, sister, watch my every move,
Smile when I'm awake.
You're the only one who does any more.
And it's the best feeling in the world,
Knowing that there is someone.

You are a perfect façade,
Yet I cannot consider it.
You are yourself,
Yet hidden,
Hiding behind a twisted mask.

You talk when the world ignores me,
And think when I don't want to be spoken to.
You laugh when all anyone else can do is cry,
And believe when all I can do is laugh with you.

I wish the light would be brighter,
To bring to life the sullen faces,
Wandering aimlessly around me,
And you.
Glancing at clipboards, scurrying around.

They never stay.

But you, sister, always do.

Death,
Coiling, twisting, winding
Around me.
I feel nothing, wish nothing, hear nothing
Yet see everything.

Like a lot of my poems, I quickly wrote this one down without much deliberation. I decided not to refine it at all.

As always, comments appreciated.
